Air Pollution Control Systems

Scrubber on Ground

Gaseous and particulate emissions can be removed from the exhaust streams of boilers and process equipment using Vortex Air Pollution Control Systems.

These systems can be designed to target specific noxious substances like SO2 as well as particulates.

Vortex Air Pollution Control Systems are currently controlling emissions from wood fired boilers, coal fired boilers, diesel fired boilers, glass furnaces and metal furnaces throughout New Zealand and in Australia and the United Kingdom.

With increasingly stringent limits on emissions required for resource consents, using an Electrostatic Precipitator, Pulse Jet Baghouse, High Efficiency Cyclone, Grit Arrestor/Multiclone or a Wet Scrubber (as shown above) will reduce the environmental impact of your operations.

Vortex design, manufacture and install a range of dust and fume collection systems. These can either be from our standard range or specifically custom designed to suit your requirements. e.g. 1.0m3/s to 50m3/s.

Some of the important factors of dust extraction are:

  • Ensuring you have sufficient extraction at the machine head to protect your equipment.
  • Ensuring once you have control of the dust, you then capture it effectively and process it with minimal environmental effects.

Important fume control factors:

  • Making sure that there is sufficient airflow in the work environment to give an appropriate number of air changes per hour to ensure worker safety in accordance with O.S.H. requirements.
  • Ensuring the airflow conditions are appropriate when extracting fumes from industrial boilers and burners.
  • Ensuring that the capturing media used is appropriate to minimize any environmental impact in compliance with resource consents.

Once we have control of the dust and fume it can then be processed as required. This can involve transporting to a waste bin, storage bin, briquetting machine or a boiler feed system.

Material Handling Systems

A properly designed material handling system is essential to ensure the front end systems work correctly.

Reliability is the key and this can only be obtained by ensuring the design is right. Vortex has many years of experience in the CORRECT sizing and design of material handling systems. This involves getting accurate average and peak loads, along with waste type data and flow characteristics.

It's not guess work. It’s great design from great knowledge.

Vortex has extensive hands-on experience with many types of material handling systems and can provide a reliable system for numerous types of conveyed products such as sawdust, shavings, coal, biomass, wool, ash, grain and seed.
